First, it is confirmed that Lorwyn is a tribal set and that Planeswalker is a new permanent type with a mana cost and everything. The Planeswalker mini-site is live and the great explorers at MTGSalvation have already uncovered all five of the planeswalkers in this thread. We have a ton of Lorwyn artwork (links 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) and high-res images of the English pre-cons and booster packs.
