Hello guys, Dom here. I'm back in Leeds after one of the most amazing weeks of my life, and I want to thank everyone at Wizards for helping me out with everything I needed.
So here we go: there is no MNM this week because of time differences (and I had to work an hour after I got back to England); however, I wanted to write this article and just explain what I've learned at worlds and what the future is for MTGCast.
I first found out that A LOT of people have heard of us, which is FANTASTIC. To the internet world, we are a relatively new site (we started in March), so to get so many people talk to me and recognize the cast was a great joy to me. However, some issues arose with the website and the audio quality of some shows (mostly Monday Night Magic), so this week, we are moving from GizmoProject (which has held us dearly over the past few months) to a program called Skype, which we tried before but it didn't really work. There's some new recording software that's been released for Skype, which we HOPE will allow us to get the sound quality and levels that much better.
Also, a couple of people noted that the website was confusing and they had no idea what was going on with all the different websites and what was linked. For that, I am sorry; splitting the site off from a big site into several smaller ones was an experiment to see how it would work with less editorializing from myself. It didn't work, and hopefully, over Christmas, something will be happening to MTGCast to fix all the above problems.
But . . . but . . . "This is MTGCast!" I hear you cry, "there's gotta be audio!" Well, yes, indeed there is, but only a few people have heard it. It's some floor walking I did on the third day of Worlds and forgot to upload into a podcast, so here it is:
(In case you missed the first two they are Here and Here
There are two things I wish to leave you with. One is a comment: if you think you would be interested in doing audio/video/text/morse code articles on Magic, then feel free to send me an email to dom@mtgcast.com.
And the final thing is, please comment on weather you would prefer bigger file sizes for better sounding audio, or if you prefer the smaller compressed audio files, thanks a lot
